About this experience

Travel from Hyderabad to the renowned weaving settlement of Pochampally, where textile traditions remain closely connected to village life and family-run workshops.

Meet members of the weaving community and follow the intricate journey of ikat from design preparation and yarn tying to dyeing, alignment and weaving. Unlike printed textiles, an ikat pattern is created by resist-dyeing selected sections of yarn before the threads reach the loom. The dyed warp and weft must then be aligned with remarkable precision to reveal the intended design.

Observe traditional looms in operation, learn how skills are passed between generations and explore the distinctive geometric language of Pochampally textiles. The full-day format allows additional time for deeper interaction, more stages of the weaving process and a relaxed local lunch.
